This book by Stephen Chbosky was suggested to me by a dear friend, who thought I would relate to it, just like she did. I was intrigued by the simplicity used to portray the thoughts of the main character, Charlie in the form of letters to anonymous.
Unlike other books that create unnecessary drama, the perks of being a wallflower stays grounded and reminds me that there are nice people out there.
As per the movie, its cute and adorable, a league separate from the book, where the characters come alive with Ezra Miller and Logan Lerman and of course Emma Watson, who sort of steals the show. If I hadn’t read the book, I would have still understood and enjoyed every bit of the movie like so many of my friends have.
A reminder that all works of literature don’t have to be long, elaborate and complex to be valued.
